4 Shared had gotten much worse
4Shared seems to have set new download limits i dont see how anyone who is not a member can depend on getting a download of a complete game in anything like a reasonable time. I tried to dl a game last night with 30 parts, after 12 parts were downloaded, it started throwing a "download limit exceeded" try again in a few minutes..well that is a load of BS 12 hours later it is saying the same thing. they are holding uploads hostage trying to force us to sign up for their pay service.
Just a word of warning. I would switch uploads to Megaupload, much better and they at least are honest about giving free downloads. nuff said.

I have used 4Shared before and it was never a problem but now they ownt allow more than it looks like 14 downloads before putting up major roadblocks for free users, i have been unable to dl an of the files for htis game for 24 hours, i thought it would reset for a new sesision but i am still getting Your Download session has expired..or some such mesage...
I may hve to sign up for the pay service.
ah well, i suppose it was bound to happen eventually such marketing is inevitable as said.
MU is free to all users unless there has been a problem of abuse of service.... and with premium service you can dl an unlimited number of downloads and very fast. I did end up signing u for that one and i8t has been great.

MegaUpload do have Download Limit exceeded on their servers but it's per area (I don't know the sizes of the areas).
Sometimes when I download something it just dies... That is the download limit kicking in and cutting you off. But with the use of a free account and JDownloader I can resume when the limit is no longer reached.
It should however be noted that MegaUpload is going downhill too even if it is very slowly for the moment.

Some people are like slinkies... They're not really good for much but they do bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

The problem with sites as Fileserve and Hotfile is the waiting time and retention. The files will be deleted after respectively 60 and 90 days without download. If we switch to those sites we will need to do a lot of re-uploading. Hotfile has a waiting time of 30 min. between each file, so that's not ideal as well. With Fileserve it's 10 min. + captcha.
I just downloaded more than 6 GB from 4shared with JDownloader and the only limit I see is the maximum of 6:30 min. waiting time (depending on the file size) for each file. I didn't encounter any download limit yet.

I just started using JDownloader as well. Just set your max connections and max downloads to 1. You won't be able to "cheat" and download two files at once like you can sometimes get away with on 4shared, but I'd rather just set it and walk away from it. I noticed sometimes enabling 2 downloads will get JDownloader to flag the file as a 404 and skip it.Shattered wrote: I just downloaded more than 6 GB from 4shared with JDownloader and the only limit I see is the maximum of 6:30 min. waiting time (depending on the file size) for each file. 4shared now allows up to 2GB file uploads instead of the old 200MB limit per file.
However recently it's also giving upload errors which could also be related to new changes. Hopefully they fix this quickly.
What I do now is upload the smallest part first and if it goes through successfully then I up remaining parts. If you do get an upload error, I suggest you sign off the account and sign back in as this seems to clear future errors.
