Duke Nukem Forever demo is out.

Post by Scaryfun »

It's an exclusive download for First Access Club members that need to enter your Access Code from either your Borderlands Game of the Year Edition box or Duke Nukem Forever pre-order. PC users will then receive an access code to obtain the demo through Steam.

Will it be cr@cked soon? Or just wait another week for the official retail game. For those who waited 13 years, another week won't be long. :P

Yeah, it is cr@cked already . . . I haven’t downloaded it yet, waiting for a smaller repack.

I watched a youtube video, it seems you get to play the opening sequence with the Cycloid monster, and also the driving bit with the abandoned mines - the rail-gun weapon and collecting fuel for the vehicle reminded me a lot of Shadow Warrior.

A lot of people are saying bad things already, but I loved Duke 3D , Redneck Rampage and all those, since Forever looks to be in the same spirit of those games, I think it will be super fun . . . I am definitely going to buy it :)

I had a FAC code so downloaded and played. Demo is very short and graphics are very dated though not bad to look at. The one-liners and the duke style of play is the same as Duke 3d - I think that is what will make the game good. :)

I hope it's not too bad, but I haven't played it yet. Been too busy with moving and the Deus Ex Human Revolution beta.

I'm sure you haven't played the full version, so this is a bit stupid.
A lot of people have said that the demo is nothing special, but I'm sure the finished game will be more interesting.

The whole game's very poor indeed. A wasted time.

In the games defence, the reviewer does say it's a throwback, kind of like doom, and that modern gamers won't like it because of the less than spetacular graphics, and the old-style gameplay. That personally doesn't bother me, I don't need shiney graphics, I just want 'fun'.

Been playing it a bit now, and I like it for the thing it is: a memory of the past.

Oddly enough I could never set myself to playing those new CoD games, but I'm rather enjoying this one with its references to past & current games. (Duke hating VALVE puzzles anyone?) ;)

Well, I just completed the singleplayer experience (dissatisfying ending btw). IMO it didn't live up to Duke Nukem 3D. As I feared, the "2 weapon carry limit" made the game a lot less fun than its predecessor. Not to mention the fact that I kinda missed having the jetpack around. Having a movement-enhancing gimmick in a game (i.e. jetpack, translocator/impact hammer, double-jump/dodging/rolling, etc.) is a perk people will miss when the sequel decides to do away with it.

Also, while there were very nice bits that reminded me of (Build era) 3D shooters, I feel the game could have expanded more on that. Also, Duke's oneliners seem to have partly been based on some other Build era titles too (Blood, which in turn references lots of cult titles), and I missed new references to any 'new' (i.e. post-90's) content.

All in all it's a fun game, albeit a bit repetitive. The abundantly long loading times also don't do much good.

Still, the content's there. I can only hope the community will make some content that pays proper tribute to Duke Nukem. :)
