Hotud.org shutting down.

Saw this today -
Okay so this\'ll be short, but in all likelihood, I am going to be shutting this page down. It\'s expensive (very), and I do not think it\'s needed anymore given the success of GOG.com, Abandonia, and a few others. I simply don\'thave the time to keep it up and running, nor can do I have the time to make it the kickass community that I think it needs to be. I tried to ping abandonia about taking it over, but I never got a response. if anyone else has any alternative ideas, drop me a line at admin at hotud.org and we can figure something out.

That's a shame, even though some of the old HOTU downloads are missing on there. We have 308 games we link to on there. Of course, most I think have alternate sites with similar rips.

I prefer http://www.homeoftheunderdogs.net/, but it's a shame nevertheless.

I think old-games.com have some/most of files from Hotud, however unregistered (read: free) users only have 2 DLs quota per day + ridiculously slow speed, which is highly tedious.

Kinda sad though, Hotud was one of the very first site I've visited for my retro games collection.

homeoftheunderdogs.net doesn't seem to have downloads anymore, I checked yesterday on several games and they only have a search button to look in browser.

Most of their download went missing ever since the time they have to rebuilt the whole site several years ago AFAIK.

If there's a way to grab the whole site using HTTrack or something similar, I'd do it too for sake of preservation.
