The DRM free (gamer's edition ) version of the game is broken for some reason. Crashes in level 3. The best way to play the game currently is the starforce version.

Guide:

Install game
Install starforce driver from the executable.
Don't restart!
Update starforce driver with SFUPDATE http://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/
Restart Windows
Apply crack
Play game.

This will not work in Windows 8 and 8.1, but will work in Windows 7. After experimenting a little bit it seems like you have to update the starforce driver even if you play with a crack.

UPDATE: Yep, just confirmed it myself, RLD's crk isn't proper (if Curious George gives the same result - especially that RLD repack - then it's just freaking great ), will be seeing later on how the Gamer's Edition will operate (& if the executables are interchangeable, which I highly doubt ) since W10 should be fix0red enough at this point (especially with ThirteenAG's hack), but ATM it's not looking good for the initial release version (fingers crossed for jjim not talking smack)

The same question resurfaces again: why all the good programmers like rhymekidder or aclair disappear after some time?

UPDATE: The Gamer's Edition works well with the hack (and instructions from PCGamingWiki ), but unfortunately crisscrossing its files to make vanilla work flopped (as expected), thus in the list it remains The only file of all the "crk'd" ones for the GE is KingKong8.exe, aka the DX8.1 executable, no wonder GE works like ass, but it's what'll have to be resorted to these days (even with those glitches & bugs, at least none seem to be DRM-based though, which is a relief), & with the hack it now seems fully playable, so that should need to count as a plus, right
On the side note, to Meddle once again for the proper rls of Curious George (2006), works flawlessly
