I reupped it now. I don't have time to check if saves work but it's IGG release and there's no comments on their page of save problems.
It's quite small size of download so you can check it yourself.

Have you tried replacing the steam_api with Goldberg emu (https://mr_goldberg.gitlab.io/goldberg_emulator/)?

Still can't get it to work. I even tried using Steamless to remove its protection, which it did, but the game will crash on start up.

It's really weird, because I can run this game from the previous release I found before requesting a reupload of this one, but again, that one won't save my progress.
