Please keep in mind that Rovio accepts all 'cdkeys', and does a online check to validate. It doesn't matter anymore what you type in, it will always validate properly. If that activation server goes down, it's not hard to make a Rovio Activation Server emulator, it's just simple plain-text http traffic, it gets some status=1 and activates the product. It's been some time ago, I believe Rio had a https check unlike the other titles in the series. Wireshark it.

Well the cracked full demo would just crash if I typed in whatever. So that is why I went with the disc copy.

The game dont seem to like it if you switch between versions, if you get cryptic error messages try to delete the files located here*. I actually preferred the GUI scaling from v 2.2 (retail) as opposed to 4.0. v 4.0 just made the buttons bigger without updating the actually quality of them, so they looked kinda pixelated.

Yes, THETA release. Angry Birds has some exe packer I believe, at least, older versions did, the latest 4.0.0 doesn't seem to have any exe packer. The serial is stored using some LUA magic. All that is pretty solid, easiest way to break registration was by activation server emulation. I made a simple Python HTTP server for that, not elegant. Yesterday I looked up my notes about Angry Birds, and made a new, smaller/portable EXE using GCC, it's not a HTTP server, but it kind of acts like one, it is enough to activate these titles:
- AngryBirdsInstaller_4.0.0.exe (download)
- AngryBirdsRioInstaller_1.4.4.exe (download) (activate this, then update using AngryBirdsRioInstaller_2.2.0.exe (download))
- AngryBirdsSeasonsInstaller_4.0.1.exe (download)
- AngryBirdsSpaceInstaller_1.6.0.exe (download)
- AngryBirdsStarWarsIIInstaller_1.5.1.exe (download)
- AngryBirdsStarWarsInstaller_1.5.0.exe (download)



I checked for you, old versions can also be activated using the server emulator.

This might need some changes, if anyone can test this (hoping to see annoyment here soon to help testing ), I can use some feedback. It's tested on Windows XP and 7.

Test release: Rovio.Activation.Server.Emulator (16.9KiB): Usage:

1. Unpack, start, it will need some firewall permissions since it's a server emulator, don't be alarmed.
2. Read the on-screen instruction about adding 2 hosts to the hosts file.
3. Start a Rovio game, press activate, server says it's all OK, key is written in settings.lua.

NOTE: If you don't want to launch this EXE on your own system, just use a VM and change the IPs in the hosts file of the system you want to activate Rovio products on to that of the VM.

Wasn't keen on bothering (due to its bajillion of levels and installments; plus casual on-the-loo gaming is totes not mah jive Especially so for GaaS ), but HcH and Mutahard Anal nudged me kindly to have it a whiff

Was thinking of comparing versions to find some compromise between completion and UI integrity, but with having (had) constant content updates (along with shenanigans such as promo unlock/redeem codes) I quickly gave up after concluding it a futile endeavour

Test release

Done as instructed, and as it is, the proggy works flawlessly (both with and without any connection - even plugged off me router for further integrity checkup ), activating all linked installments in a single running session, no need to reopen nor any other hitches (even installed Bad Piggies work; that one's present in the subfolder these installers were linked from) So for that
Too bad for server spoofing (instead of some kinda offline master key or summat) to make it happen (along with "hosts" editing; thought that thing could be done in memory while it's running, dunno, alas); but still, no need to push it any further
OTOH, someone must've pulled this bit of info out of their arse, in which a disc-check would work just fine too - maybe I've been reading that wrong, but methinks it could work as a better offline unlock vector (though dunno how the heck would it handle updates, and/or if it's one-time or upon every game startup)
Was thinking if any other bozo online had ever bothered to create a consistent kinda EXE DRM (inert or strip) patcher rather than just an activator, but spent enough time as it is on this; so, again and, uh, cheerio

I agree with tempering with hosts file is a bit cumbersome. But, it allows to properly and fully activate as intended. Since there is no exe protection used on at least v4.0.0 there should be easier ways to pre-activate it, perhaps even make a generic crack. However, much like you, or more, exactly like you, I consider these titles as bathroom gaming. Maybe if I'm bored one day I'll have a look, if other crackers or groups released proper cracks of the later versions, then there's no point. At this point I haven't checked for modern cracked releases of Angry Birds, I recall THETA cracking them more than a decade ago. If you or anyone else knows or wants a preactivated version, let me know.

About the CD retail release of Angry Birds, I have many of those in my collection because you can not buy a second hand batch of games without. I compared the installers with the online installers and must conclude they are the exact same. Even activation is identical, I checked 3 retail version: AB, Seasons, Star Wars. All the same as what the online download is. There is a small chance there are localized versions/releases but I doubt that, the ISO I downloaded from Archive org was identical to my own copy here, at least, the crc of the installer.

Retail copies of Devil Den 1 and 2 has been added to oldpersiangames.org as opposed to that compilation we had earlier. The retail version of Devil Den 1 need the exe from the compilation to work.
