Common Download Issues - Please READ before posting!

Here is a number of download issues that might occur when starting a download. Please follow the given course of action:

• General Download Script Messages:
• You did not get this download from Legends World / Please start this download from the Legends World Site:
  You could not be validated as a Legends World visitor. This could be due to anti-spyware/ad-blocking/anonymizing security software, like Norton Internet Security.
• No valid download mirror specified:
  Occurs when someone supplied a bad link to the script. Please report this error, and tell which download it occured with.
• Download link not available:
  There has been an internal script error. Please report this error, and tell which download it occured with..
• The page cannot be displayed or HTTP 500 Internal server error or if the page does not even load:
  Your browser or firewall may be blocking the referrer information as to where the link originated from. If so, you won't be able to connect at all to those pages unless you disable that function for our site..
• The wrong game download page is linked from the Legends World entry.:
  An error was made in linking the incorrect download. Please report this error, and tell which download it occured with and we will fix it.

• 4shared Messages:
• Sometimes file parts will get deleted from the host over time. :
  If you notice any missing, Post on our Broken Downloads Forum.
• If you get an error message after downloading, it is probably an error on the host's server. :
  Post on our Broken Downloads Forum.
• If you can't download files from one specific account, it may be that you have exceeded the 3GB daily traffic limit on your account. To download again on that account, you have to wait until the next day or use another 4shared account.

The following issues might arise when downloads are finished:

• What to do with ACE/RAR/ZIP/001/7z files?:
  Those files are file archives. You will need a third-party tool like WinRAR, WinAce, WinZIP or 7-Zip to open these files and extract the actual contents.
• What to do with SFV/PAR files?:
  Those files are file verifiers. You will need a third-party tool like WinSFV or QuickSFV to use these files to determine whether your downloaded files are OK.
• What to do with DIZ or NFO (MS Info) files?:
  Those files are iNFO files. You can open these in your favorite text reader/editor (like Notepad) and read the (important, sometimes crucial) information contained in them.
• What to do with ISO/CUE/BIN/MDS/CCD/IMG/NRG files?:
  Those files are CD images. You will need a third-party tool like Nero Burning Rom or Alcohol 120% to burn the contents of these images to a CDR.
• I need a password for <insert game title here>:

4shared is having some problem since December/2014 showing files more than 18 in one folder...If you find that you are missing files beyond the final one on page, then replace in url "folder" with "dir", or from first folder page, click Name field to reorder files so last ones show at top of page.

If there are multiple pages of 4shared files and they won't load into a download manager like jDownloader, to get the remaining links to appear,
turn 'http://www.4shared.com/folder/ZFV0CfNp/GOW.html' into 'http://www.4shared.com/folder/ZFV0CfNp/005/GOW.html'. to get the fifth page of files, for example.

4shared, MEGA & JDownloader - Troubleshooting

As a rule of thumb...
...make sure you keep your software up to date. JDownloader gets daily updates and your archiving software (7-zip/WinRar/...) should be up to date in order to avoid compatibility issues with archives.

(4shared & MEGA) Bandwidth limit
4shared:
All free 4shared accounts have a bandwidth cap: 3GB/day and 30GB/month. Hitting the limit will prevent you from downloading files from the browser, or cause an "Account missing" error when using JDownloader. The common workaround is to create several accounts and switch from one to another when needed.

You can register several accounts using different email addresses, then configure JDownloader to use all accounts and switch between them when needed. Simply enter your account credentials in Settings -> Accounts Manager.

JD will automatically use the next account in the list when the bandwidth limit is reached.

MEGA:
May 2018: The bandwidth cap currently seems to be set to 10GB every 6 hours.

(4shared) Only a small number of files are displayed, the rest is hidden (scrolling bar disappeared)
Switch to folder view: change the URL from "http://4shared.com/folder/xxxxx" to "http://4shared.com/dir/xxxxx".

(4shared & MEGA)
-One or more files are missing
-Folder is empty
-"The file link that you requested is not valid."
-MEGA asks for a decryption key
Report the download in this section.

(4shared + JDownloader) JD's linkgrabber only grabs 18 files while there are more in the folder
Switch to folder view: chang the URL from "http://4shared.com/folder/xxxxx" to "http://4shared.com/dir/xxxxx".
Select all files in the list. Go to More -> Get links. Copy all links.


(4shared + JDownloader) Files are online and displayed, but the linkgrabber cannot detect them.
In some rare cases, files can be flagged as adult content, and thus will trigger an additional confirmation page - which JD cannot handle.
For instance, mirror #3435: 12 out of 13 files trigger a "Confirm birth date" page and need to be manually downloaded.
