which tools/software can decrypt the“ .dat“ file of FarCry4?

Post by NATO2000 »

I need decrypt the“ .dat“ files to make some MOD

we can see “sound.dat”(2.43GB)in the Far Cry 4\data_win32,I believe this file contains gun shot sound effect,I plan to make some new soundeffect

but I don't know which tools/software can decrypt it?

May some one give me useful information?

Best (far outclassing said Extractor) workflow for modding FC4 here (hope access ain't restricted fer yeh): https://farcrymods.freeforums.net/threa ... rt-modding
It can be a different Vorbis variant, or an unrelated format entirely - either way, MediaInfo and VLC are yer friends

Hello, the Extractor 2.5 seems that it cannot meet the needs. It seems that it cannot scan all the data in a dat file package. If all the scanning types are checked, the content scanned out will be even less.

Although I have obtained a large number of .ogm files, I have tried hard for a whole night, but still haven't found a player that can play ogm files normally

Now I don't even know which file saves the shooting sound effect of Far Cry 4, and what format it is

The link you provided is from 2017, and I don't know if there is still an active FARCRY MOD team now?

Discord channel?

Could you send me one of those ogm files? I was under the impression that they were somewhat obscure movie files. Belive I have seen that format used before...

Far Cry 4 is not worth developing. It's not as good as 5 or 6, so I gave up on it and am now researching 5.
