Dear LegendsWorld community,
You seem to be perhaps the only place in the entire world (no hyperbole) to still offer a way to get the special latest patched version of Montezuma's Return 1.29W with the better main menu, better revised levels, and added final level. It's a childhood favorite of mine and for apparently complicated legal reasons there seems to be no hope it'll ever be regularly on sale again. Hence I got it from here, but sadly, I couldn't quite get the download to work. What happens is I used the disk image for a virtual cd drive in both a Windows 98 and a Windows 11 VM, and neither can show the contents properly.
Perhaps some file is corrupted? Here is what I managed to download with the MD5 sums:
a08c7b97ed269786a942ef1aac5017d6 monter.part1.rar
61ee160283c3dc9fcfeb6e78f9e78500 monter.part2.rar
5021e60786011f6ea5d1ff6d308d1083 monter.part3.rar
031308cfb390267353f7ef6ba129e129 monter.part4.rar
5b31b58b2639c153073987e02cf29b37 monter.part5.rar
7791702d22d3418382e77d0a147bcc8f monter.part6.rar
fce43ff9e23284c6982550e03669537f monter.part7.rar
With WinRAR that gave me the following files:
ee3217c410c31e9c59150313463c267b montezuma129w.bin
99895a75bf4de269947d7a4af132f0bc Montezuma129w.cue

Re: Montezuma 1.29W
Redownloaded, and all extracts (both WinRAR and 7-Zip, not as updated though) and mounts (Daemon Tools Lite 5.0.1) correctly on my end
Checksum comparison tells me that a re-download 100% won't be needed, but the archiver on your end somehow correctly extracts the BIN but screws up the CUE (should be a1c3ad5663d3b016d0f83f6dcb343c20)
SOLUTION1: Mount the BIN file directly - some proggies allow that (can be forced on Daemon Tools with "Quick Mount" and then typing out the BIN's name WITH the file extension)
SOLUTION2: Extract again until success, OR replace the archiver (or the mounting utility)
SOLUTION3: grab either http://redump.org/disc/116889/cue/ or http://redump.org/disc/87811/cue/ then edit to point to correct BIN (or rename BIN instead; your call)
SOLUTION4: Notepad (or whatever text editor) new file with text below, save that, then rename extension of said file from TXT to CUE - checksum won't match, but will cooperate (if not the first time, then just add and/or remove new lines until it does)
Windows is shutting down

Re: Montezuma 1.29W
Thank you so much for helping me out! Since I only have Windows in VMs, I'm a bit at a loss. I can only open the image the way the VM software can, I think. I replaced the cue file but it didn't help, sadly:
Microsoft Windows
Windows can't access this disc
The disc might be corrupt. Make sure that the disc uses a format that Windows recognizes. If the disc is unformatted, you need to format it before using it.
That's what Windows 11 says. Windows 98 will show a single audio track, but I'm assuming there were meant to be files on it. I tried converting it to ISO, but the conversion tools don't want to do it.

Re: Montezuma 1.29W
So, a Linux distro or something is your main
Lemme see
BYPASS2: install mounting software (and/or archiver) and copy/paste the BIN in the guest system(s), then apply solutions 1 and/or 2 (from me prior post) within them instead of relying on VM software in host
BYPASS3: which is to give up and just DL a preconverted disc image such as https://archive.org/details/montezuma129w
Recommending to exhaust all other options before skipping to the very last one, as not everything would be ISOable (single-session, Mode1 2048, DRM-free, etc) and working as expected (Redump forcing ISO for DVDs via Redumper/DIC is a bloody disaster IMO)
Windows is shutting down

BYPASS1: Force ONLY the BIN (no CUE present in same location) into https://gitlab.com/bunnylin/bin2iso or https://github.com/hessu/bchunk or whichever proggy is compatible on your host, then mount ISO via VM software (tl;dr try again using other tools)el4829048 wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 12:35 amI can only open the image the way the VM software can, I think.
