unreal : cannot patch because unreal.u is modified

Post by kandeed »

Hello,

First thank for your site and what you are doing.

Downloaded Unreal some time ago. Worked fine ! Tried to update the game with the latest pacth (don't have a 3dfx card), but didn't work.
The file Unreal.u has been modified (I guess to add "3dsl") so the patch does not recognise it.
Would you please provide us with a patch (what string to look for with an
hex editor and what need to be changed back) that would allow us to go
back to the original state and then apply the patch.

Thanks in advance.

3dsl members do not modify any game files at all the original guys that released it do - alot of update patchs will not work on these games because of this fact as the patchs will look for reg entries/crc check files etc - what version patch are you trying to use

Hey mate.
I upped the 20mb big file called unreali.u once. It's linked right under the Unreal upload.
Once you've unpacked that thing to your game dir correctly you will be able to use the patch.

Have fun :)

Thanks for checking and taking the appropriate corrective action.

I have been trying for 3 weeks now and can't get the link to work ...

Thanks for help.

All of my links have been fixed recently. All of them! It's just a matter of time until they are posted on the site, ok?

You'll have to wait for a bit :(

I will wait (tanks for answering) ...

I also read (too late) in the forum dead links section : "Some of our upload links are being posted on other sites and causing them to be leeched too much and as a result they go down quickly. Those especially popular games will not be fixed until we get an anti-leech script working."

A suggestion for this case would be to do a file compare between original and modified file and post here what hex string need to be changed to what.

Cheers.
