Civil War - A Nation Divided Doesnt Work (Video glitch)

Post by BR4ZIL »

Hey folks, since this is a fairly recent game (from 2006), i expected to run it without problems, but alas that is not so.

Game boots up fine, movie plays, menus all work. But when the game actually renders, i get this:

I actually managed to get this game working about a year ago, but i was under windows 7 32bit (i am using 64bit now) and i had a 460gtx back then (using a 680gtx now).

Does anybody have any ideas on what might be causing that or if there are any way to fix it? DOSBOX/VMs are problably not going to help :P

Thanks in advance for any help!

I think you're pretty much fudge, honestly. That you got it working at one point in time was lucky enough. IAs for 64-bit Win7, you're just boned. I tried it myself and the simple fact of the matter is that the framerate on this OS dips to 1 or 2 frames per second and stays there. It's a universal problem. Bascially, you want to get it working, you gotta get another computer or make another partition for 32-bit Windows 7 or some form of WinXP (or possibly Vista, but I've heard of troubles there, too).

Turn off anti-aliasing, both in game and in your graphics card's control panel (if it's forced form the driver). I had graphical glitches with this game too, but my image wasn't messed up so much, so I'm not sure if the mentioned solution will work for you, but it's worth a check. This kind of graphical error may also be related to bad ATI graphics drivers (if you have an ATI card), which messes up shaders in older games, and produces some on-screen effects as a single color filling up your screen (and therefore the game becomes unplayable since you can't see anything on the map). Starship Troopers, You Are Empty and some other games from the 2004-2007 era have the same problem, and there is no workaround, the only possible solution is to downgrade your drivers for an early version (but this method breaks compatibility with newer games, so you have to decide if you'd rather play older or newer games).
