Installing Entomorph on XP - Cant find .dll thats there

Hi all

Am trying to install Entomorph Plague of the Darkfall ISO on XP
I know its a old game and XP isnt optimal for this sort of thing but hey sometimes we get lucky

I have browsed online and the only problems refer to RAM issues or such after installation

My problem is i cant even install the game because no matter what option i choose (running setup under compat win 95 mode or not) it starts to install then tells me that it cant open a .dll

"Unable to open C:\WINDOWS\XP\SYSTEM32\WING.DLL

My base windows folder is a bit messy yes as i had to install XP to save this PC from a Windows 2000 death so not sure if thats effecting it

But i have tried to copy the dll into the system folder and it still does not see the dll.I have tried to register the dll with regsvr but then it tells me the file is not an executable.

Well my SYSTEM32 folder is named System32 but im sure windows wont be that fussy over caps and lowercase >.>

I have also tried installing WinG package.

Any ideas how i can fix this ? : )

you need to install winG as it is api developed to help game developers more easily port their DOS games to Microsoft Windows 3.11

but dunno just installed it in vista and even in Win7 and both work right from the box , installed to C:\Entho and copied the patch 1.1 [well only in vista i had to set compatibility to win95 640x480 with 256colors and disable all advanced function to play]

Yeah im guessing its something to do with my messy XP install....

Ive installed winG and tried just about everything but it still wont see that damn .dll when installing

I guess i can always try and run the game in virtual machine or such.The rip works fine.Also if i go to like,after it aborts the install after like 4% when it cant see that dll,the C\ENTO folder and go autorun or plague,the game starts but it cant see the cd,like keeps asking to insert CD and worse,says there is a problem with my media device so i can get some sound but no music or speech....i wonder if there is a way to edit some install file somewhere.....

try putting the WinG related files in Entomorph's folder, usually applications try to find library files in the PATH environment variable, which should include the current startup (Entomorph) folder first.
