"people can download files uploaded by Pro users without capped download speeds as long as the user account doesn't surpass that daily bandwidth. Uploaders with free RapidShare accounts are limited to 1GB of bandwidth a day." That eliminates them from hosting anything popular. Most games are over 1GB and would allow only one download per day...pathetic.

I'm quite sure many warez sites will not continue using RapidShare. Uploaders don't want to pay extra for traffic.

Swiss-based file-hosting service RapidShare is about to take a drastic step in its ongoing efforts to drive away pirates. Starting later this month free users of the service will be limited to sharing just 1 gigabyte a day while paid users will be allowed to transfer up to 30 gigabytes to the public. RapidShare CEO Alexandra Zwingli says that the new measures will prevent abuse by persistent copyright infringers.

I just tried to download a file from RapidShare and found out the speed is limited again (60 kB/s). I thought the speed for free users was uncapped. Don't know when they changed this.
Your current up- / download speed is limited.
For fastest up- / download speeds get a RapidPro account now.
You can also make money again by "inviting friends" to buy a premium account. You need to attract a minimum of 4 friends to buy an account before they pay you.
