This is a fun rail shooter shooting game similar to SEGA's Space Harrier with limited movement side-to-side and up-down on the screen as patterns of enemies come at you. It's a parody/spoof of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam" (Kidou Senshi Gundam, First Gundam, or Gundam 0079) by Medama Soft. Playing as Amuru (instead of Amuro Ray), the game is a more silly take on Gundam 79 with several characters and mechs that greatly resemble characters from the hit anime and manga (which originally wasn't actually a hit as it struggled out the gate but grew in popularity). It features several scrolling levels where you avoid enemy fire and certain obstacles while always on the move, and you can collect power-ups and lock on enemies for greater accuracy. Near the end of a level, you'll be warned as you approach a powerful boss enemy (or enemies), where short events are acted out before you begin battle. You gain ranks for each level based on how many enemies you take down. |
