Ghost Recon: Desert Siege | Red Storm / Ubi Soft | 2002

In this mission pack for Ghost Recon, it puts the specialty unit in hot North Africa. The conflict between Ethiopia and small (formerly ruled by Ethiopia) Eritrea flames up increasingly. In 8 missions one must stabilize the position. There are new weapons and opponents, a new specialist in the team and ... a higher degree of difficulty. In the multiplayer area there are 9 new weapons, 4 new multiplayer-maps and 2 new gameplay variations (Domination and Siege). Domination involves holding areas for a very long time or quickly recapturing lost areas and Siege is a kind of Assault - a team attacks and that other must defend. There is a zone into which an attacker must work into and for 5 seconds survive, then the round is won. The playing time has gotten very short, the missions offer nothing new essentially opposite the original game. The African surroundings offer less cover and are not that interesting. Altogether Desert Siege is not bad, it would have been more desirable to improve the game engine instead. Unfortunately, the opportunity to offer an interesting mission pack was missed by the developers.
