Hitman 2: Silent Assassin | IO Interactive / Eidos Interactive | 2002

Again one slips into the role of hitman 47. The Danish developer Io Interactive managed with Hitman to have an unexpected success and in the 2nd part the developers (partially) build on it. There is more freedom of action than with the first part but unfortunately also a much weaker story. The mentor of our hero - father Vittorio was kidnapped and 47 sets out to save him. On this occasion, it is a matter mostly of liquidating the object person, otherwise there is a matter of creeping a lot and of keeping a lookout for others. The levels are very big and can confuse, but they are less straight-forward and offer several possible solutions. One can knock people out and slip into their clothes. Sometimes one must get by without weapons (when in disguise or to avoid detectors). The creeping component is similar to NOLF 1 and 2, however not as good as in Thief. Sometimes it is easier to shoot, than to creep. Depending on your stealthiness, you are given a rating upon completing a mission. Going trigger-happy on everyone will result in being called a "Mass Murderer", while only the most patient and skilled players will manage to receive the "Silent Assassin" rating, which generally involves stealthily eliminating the target without raising any suspicion. Hitman 2 is a successful continuation which has more fun than part 1. For people who also like to think as well as shoot, Hitman 2 is recommended but can frustrate also a little on account of the complexity and limited save function.
