This is a fun action adventure that takes place in 1935 just before the events of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and puts our hero Indiana Jones from the popular film series on a quest to recover a Chinese artifact known as the heart of the dragon - a black pearl with the power to control minds. Nazis and Chinese gang members are also after it and you travel to places like Prague, Istanbul, Hong Kong, and an island fortress. As you solve various puzzles an icon will appear on items where you can use your whip, knife or dynamite and activate levers. The combat is fun whether in hand-to-hand punches, kicks, and grabs or using your whip, a variety of firearms and makeshift weapons like chairs. There is a first-person aiming mode, but Indy turns far too slowly in this mode for it to be really useful. There is also simply too much damn swimming in the game. Indy constantly finds himself separated from his objective by numerous canyons, chasms, rifts and holes. For the most part, these are relatively easy to clear but there are a few instances where you need to time your jump down to the last pixel. Still, grabbing on to a nearly-missed ledge with your fingertips is more exciting than frustrating. | ||
