Only about 8 months after the first, Croteam
came out with this second part. The engine was improved (now can show
among other things vast grass sceneries). Some new opponents, totally
new sceneries and some new weapons are available. Especially overdue -
and very well-done - the Sniper Gun is useable in some scenes to very
good effect, and also the flamethrower is also cool. Otherwise everything
remains as in the first game: One hurls himself against gigantic mammoth
hordes. In the Mayan empire it starts off, afterwards in the Far East
and at the end in medieval Europe (with the best of all successful music).
Altogether more change is offered than in the 1st part and thereby plays
itself more pleasantly. The scenarios differ completely and offer something
for the eye. There are some traps and a few changes. In a Far East level
one gets to a very famous place, unfortunately, it wasn't fully used (thouigh
it pleased me). By the end "Serious Sam - The Second Encounter" has an
awesome level of massacre. In the Cathedral level many corpses really
pave the way for the player. There is also time to gaze in wonder at extremely
cool weather effects which I haven't yet experienced so far in a shooter.
Whoever liked the first part will have even more fun with this one. In
the play system nothing has changed, however, more change is offered in
surroundings, opponents and weapons. Whoever likes a fun lighthearted
shooter is well served with this.
