Originally A Half-Life 1 mod, The Ship will now be a standalone retail product
developed on Valve's Source engine. It's primarily a multiplayer, online murder
game with a unique set of game rules. The Ship is owned by the mysterious Mr X
and as one of many "lucky" recipients of a free ticket you arrive on board The Ship
to find there's a catch to your luxury cruise. You are coerced into a brutal Hunt
to indulge Mr. X's fantasies, under threat of death for not only yourself, but also
your family. Your only chance to save yourself and your family is to play the Hunt
and win. The rules of the Hunt are simple. Each of you is given the name of one of
the other contestants on board, your Quarry, and you must Hunt them down and kill
them with any weapon you can find on board. Depending on the game mode, either the
last Hunter left alive is the winner or the Hunter with most money in their bank
account wins. As well as having someone to Hunt, you have another player hunting
you, your Hunter, so keep looking over your shoulder if you want to stay alive.
There is security on board in the form of guards and cameras, who protect the
unsuspecting passengers who share the Ship with Hunters.
Each Ship has its own secrets including hidden rooms, passages and tunnels, extra
weapons in special locations, environmental traps and triggers and extra special
ways of murdering your quarry. You will need cash to pay for food, drink, clothing,
items from shops and to bribe security staff so it's a good idea to keep some cash
on you.
