In 1941, Rommel began a successful offensive
and drove back the British forces to Egypt. Special units are sent behind
the German lines to provide supply problems to Rommel's troops. The units
are called "Desert Rats". In this 3 game WW2 series which began with the
Normandy you were on foot but in this game you steer a vehicle in which
the second man with a weapon sits (which one can select before the mission).
The levels are bigger than with the first parts; the playing time accordingly
is also higher. In the missions one may not save and ammunition boxes
of the Germans must be gathered (or one will have none). Desert Rats did
in a play test being somewhat fun (clearly more than Normandy). However,
it is not a first-person shooter, play is only in vehicles and in third-person
behind-view (different variations are selectable). A mission plays during
a sand storm, I guess that can be considered somewhat new. :o) |
