This is a sequel to a rather warmly welcomed shooter from 2019, entitled RICO. As the title suggests, this takes us on a journey to the capital of England. The action of the game takes place on New Year's Eve 1999, when most of the inhabitants of this metropolis took to the streets to boisterously welcome the 21st century. The main protagonist of the game is the police inspector Redfern, who at the foot of a skyscraper catches gun dealers in the act. Wanting to put down the crime in the bud, the unsupported protagonist has to fight her way through the floors of the building and face numerous gangsters. We observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). During the game we explore the interior of a skyscraper, on each floor facing a hordes of enemies. Just like in the first part of the series, when we enter a new room, time slows down and we gain a short moment to discern the situation and effectively clear it of enemies. We are informed about the style in which we put down a given gangster by comic messages appearing above him. Things are a bit complicated by the fact that from floor to floor we meet stronger and stronger enemies. As we progress, however, we also grow in strength, gaining special upgrades and perks; our combat potential is also increased by the arsenal we find along the way (mainly taken from defeated enemies). The graphic design is kept in the comic book style and the game can be played solo or in co-operative mode (online or split screen). |
