Mosquitos Atmosphere Studios / Comport Interactive, Akella 2004

Before us is a virtual shooting gallery with ONE SCREEN. It's set in Hawaii, where a local tourist center has been attacked by hordes of mosquitoes. The owner of one hotel is none other than the barbel Petko (he is the hero of several German games - Petko's Gym (1999, Windows) and Petko: Das Debüt (unpublished, Windows)) - almost broke and in despair hires an expert on de-thinking, de-smoking and de-cock-raking any objects named Niki. He is the formal protagonist. There is only one screen, with slow automatic scrolling (about 60% of the location is visible at any time). You cannot move on your own. The content is a collection of stereotypical attributes of Hawaii in casual art: volcanoes can be seen in the distance, and palms grow in the foreground, bungalows stand, several tiki stare with stone eyes, surfers, signs and other utensils are thrown over. It all starts with the fact that the screen smoothly shifts to the left, and a coconut falls from the palm tree, hitting which gives 30 points. Then mosquitoes start flying. To create the illusion of three-dimensionality, some of them are smaller in size (as if they fly farther from the viewer), and hitting them brings more points. Some drop bombs, destroying mosquitoes around and bringing points. Finally, there is an interesting bonus: sometimes four green squares fly off from mosquitoes in different directions. Each of them brings only five points, but if you manage to hit all four before they disappear, the reward will be one hundred points, which is the largest prize in the game. Nobody fines for missing insects. There are also static objects. The right tiki sticks out its tongue from time to time, and the left one strives to shoot at the hives hanging nearby. The player is armed with a pistol with infinite ammunition - but you must remember to sometimes reload, which happens instantly. The whole process lasts one hundred seconds, after which a summary is made. To get into the table of records, you have to work hard. Also in " Mosquitoes " a simultaneous game for two is implemented - but there control using the keyboard, and therefore we will not even dwell on this.
