A remake of the 1982 ZX Spectrum game Arcadia by Imagine Software. It was made for the fabuloso Retro Remakes Coding Compo 2004. It's a space shoot 'em up along the lines of Galaxians and Space Invaders. You have a ship at the bottom of the screen. Enemy ships come at you in waves scrolling across the screen from right to left. There are twelve levels. When the last level has been completed the game cycles to level one again and continues with no increase in difficulty. You get an extra life if you clear 4 waves. They keep on coming and the object is to get a high score. Improvements Over Original: Particles everywhere; Updated gfx; Updated sonics; Inertia on ship; Speed upped to increase playability; Timer fixed to give exactly 60 seconds per level; 4 layers of parallax scrolling. Other features: Ultra sexy hiscore table; Not pressing a key will cycle through attract screens; Settings for fast / slow PC's; 2 graphics sets (2004 and 1983 - smoothed off); Settings to play or mute music. |
