PB Bear and Friends was a series of children's books by Lee Davis that has also been made into a British children's television show in 1998. Each episode was five minutes in length. Much like the Paddington Bear series, the characters were stuffed puppets that involve the use of stop-motion animation. This Pajama Bedtime Bear CD-Rom is created for children who are ready for their first experiences with the written word, and for emergent readers. It is designed like a book but expands beyond the confines of the page. Click on the text to hear each sentence read aloud; click on the rebus pictures and the written word is revealed with sound effects. Click on the main picture and it comes alive. More than 15 activities, games and interactive screens can be called up. While children are having fun, they should be forming links between the spoken and written word, developing simple vocabulary, grasping first concepts such as colour, shape, size and number, and learning to use the computer. |
