Eviternity is a 32-level megawad for Doom II using MBF-compatible source ports, created by Joshua O'Sullivan (Dragonfly). It was released on December 10, 2018, the 25th anniversary of Doom's release, alongside the OTEX texture pack by Ola Björling (ukiro), which the WAD uses exclusively. Eviternity began development in March 2018, with much of O'Sullivan's design process being livestreamed on Twitch. Several guest mappers were also brought in to help fill out the map roster. The WAD is divided into six episodes - referred to internally as chapters—each with a distinct theme showcasing OTEX's versatility. The themes are "Medieval", "Techbase", "Icy Castles", "Industrial / Brutalism", "Hell / Gore / Alien" and "Heaven".
Eviternity 2 This is a full 36-map megawad sequel to Eviternity; comprised of six 5-map Chapters, each with an additional secret level. Making extensive use of a newly updated build of the OTEX texture pack (to be released as a standalone texture pack in the future), Eviternity II’s six chapters explore a series of unique and varied themes, continuing on from where you left off after the Archangelus’ defeat. This is a sequel not only in name, but difficulty and scale too. But don’t let that scare you, it’s difficulty settings have been fully implemented to allow for players of all skill levels to enjoy. Consider lower difficulties if a chapter becomes too hard to beat. Akin to its predecessor, this project was created as a birthday gift for Doom and its ever-thriving community, which celebrated its 30th birthday on the same day this was released. |
