Episode V: Battle for Hoth Banshee Studios 2002

A fanmade horizontal scrolling shoot'em'up game based on Star Wars. Who doesn't remember Star Wars Empire Strikes Back and the awesome snow battle on the icy tundra of Hoth. Luke Skywalker takes to his Snowspeader to lead the Rebel Alliance defence against an attack by giant Imperial walking monsters in a last ditch attempt to save the Republic. When George Lucas directed the original battle sequence it was years ahead of it's time and after watching it several times in the making of this game we believe it is still an awesome piece of film making. Our tribute to this cinematic masterpiece is Episode V: Battle for Hoth. Lucas themselves where contacted in the making of this game and had no objections so we where able to use sound effects from the film itself as well as renders of high quality 3D models of the vehicles provided to us by James R Basset from www.theforce.net giving this game a truly authentic feel. The format for this game draws heavily upon the original Parker Brothers title for the Atari 2600 but make no mistake this is a total overhaul and we believe this is the best remake of this game to date. We've even included a 'Netscore' service so that you can synchronize your hi-score chart with the best on the net, don't worry it remembers 50 scores so you wont be putting the score chart out of your reach. The game is a fast paced 2D shooter with 3D parallax effect terrain. With over 600 frames of animation and a few over zealous explosions, multiple enemy types and ray traced graphics this game made a respectable entry into the DBPro Retro Programming competition.
