X-Force: The First Conflict Jan Orend 2005

Clones of Asteroids, Space Invaders, and other similar-looking shooters have sprung up countless times over the decades. This is a game "from the pen" of a German youngster which aims to refresh the already stale waters of this area. The first thing that strikes us after installation is the graphically well-designed menu. A hook with a juicy worm is dangling in front of our gaming mouths and the author of the game is watching an imaginary float from above, which should disappear under the surface at the moment when we bite into the bait, enchanted by the initial impression. But we are already experienced partygoers, so we don't let ourselves be manipulated by a nice menu and take off with our ship into the infinite universe. The rendered ships are nice, but the surrounding space is kind of barren (except for the asteroids that appear here and there). Our shiny lasers unleash volley after salvo at nimble opponents, which they clearly don't like, so they reciprocate our efforts in abundance. The points are popping up, here and there we quickly grab a bonus or an interesting weapon, we watch the 3D map with one eye and sometimes we also fail to dodge an asteroid or a malicious alien missile in time.
