Chaos Defender Blind Daruma Interactive 2002

A computer under attack. Malicious viruses threaten the system, and only one brave debugger avatar stands in their way. Can you turn back the endless ranks of your enemies? Or will you meet with a dreaded system crash? Decide your fate in Chaos Defender. This is an arcade shooter based on the classic Space Invaders coin op. The player tries to decimate the endless phalanxes of "computer viruses" before they can infect the system he's defending. The game never ends- the goal is to get the highest score possible. It was created in January - March 2002 as a senior project for J.L. Mann Academy, Greg's high school. Release 1.0 was the version finished in that time. The main elements of the game are complete and functional, but due to time constraints, some elements were left out. These included a power up system, sound effects, and extra ships. In addition, the game had a compatibility issue with certain computers (especially Dells). Release 1.1 addresses all of these lingering issues: it is Chaos Defender as it was meant to be played. Power ups, extra ships, sound effects, new graphics, and a little more polish all around were added. Most importantly, the game now works (to our knowledge) on all systems without error. The game will allow you to choose from one of two debugger craft. Which one is best for you depends solely on your play style. Alpha Debugger - The alpha debugger is quick. At twice the speed of its counterpart, it can easily dodge enemy attacks. However, such speed comes at the cost of heavy armor. One hit, and this debugger's gone. Omega Debugger - The omega debugger's strength lies in it's armored shell. While it moves considerably slower than the alpha, this craft can take an extra hit before exploding. Occasionally, an enemy may drop a power up icon. Be sure to get these. Both will greatly increase your chances of winning. Extra Life - A spinning disk icon. Grants you one extra life. Double Shot - A blue sphere. Gives you twice the firepower.
