This is a flight sim set during the Cold War, and the sequel to Wings over Vietnam. After the USSR attacks NATO forces in West-Germany, the Cold War turns hot, and the player finds himself in a plane over Germany. Player flyable aircraft include the F-100 Super Sabre, F-105 Thunderchief, F-4 Phantom II, F-15A Eagle, A-10 Thunderbolt II, British Hunter, and the VTOL Harrier, with which the player can encounter the heavy SAM network and Red Air Force of the day flying the MiG 17, 19 and 23. In 2009, an updated version called Strike Fighters 2 Europe was released with Vista compatability, DX10 shaders, accuracy in modeling by time period improved (meaning more versions of the same aircraft), hi-resolution skins and cockpits (much higher than the original Gen 1 series), slight improvements on AI, an extra A-7D Corsair II playable aircraft plus several extra AI aircraft: F-84F Thunderstreak, F-104 Starfighter, Mirage III/5, Mystere IVA, Super Mystere B.2.
