Topically relevant to today's international
situation (or questionably unsuitable or inappropriate depending on your
view...), along comes Marine Sharpshooter. You are a member of the Counter
Terror Unit (CTU) and your specialty is as a marksman. Behind hostile
lines (or in the hostile terrain - because there are clear lines in this
form of war only partially) you enter as a sniper. There are 10 missions
in 3 locations (Chechnya, Afghanistan and a South-Pacific island). Different
precision weapons are used. One must go forward carefully, not banging
wildly around. As a marksman you fire 1 or 2 shots and disappear unseen
(if you are good and it goes smoothly). The player will be accompanied at
all times by the spotter, who acts as a radio link to headquarters, provides
close fire support, and assists the sniper in finding his target. (If he
dies, you lose) Quality voice-over dialogue draws the player through the
plot where the player must chase a fictional terrorist organization around
the world. Along the way you will encounter wheeled vehicles, helicopters,
terrorist troops wielding assault rifles and RPG launchers, and even their
own snipers. Much of the combat will be through the sniper scope mounted
on your special sniper weapon, from the massive .50 cal Barrett rifle to
the advanced AW. When threats appear closer, there is always your trusty
SOCOM .45 pistol (optional silencer) and the infamous K-Bar fighting knife. |
